I am new to this laptopbattle thing, but not to computer music. I am wondering when the next battle is going to take place so I could check it out. So far most of the music I have listened to through links on this site is all pretty commercial, and almost exclusively playing back samples of other people's music. I don't have a problem with this, but I wonder if I will be able to "fit into the genre".
I am also a bit perplexed by the no external controller rule. Even DJ's get to be expressive gesturally, but that is not very possible with only on/off switches. I have built software to allow me to use a web-cam as a gestural tracker, would that be allowed? It is quite small, or how about a joystick? or VR glove? Also is all the music beat oriented?
I guess the best thing for me to do is come check it out, hence back to my first question, when is the next Seattle battle?
