Hey im using Ableton live and im proud to say i played my first show last night (a 2 song set for a high school band night thing). It was awesome. I definatly want to get some more material and play again.
But my question is this: the only one problem i faced was how to switch between songs using the program. Is the only way to load each song? because there was a tad bit too much silent time inbetween each song. Is there anyway you can load both before hand and then just switch over? Or do i put them both into one file and just play one live set for the whole performance?
cool. any advice would be solid. i love this shit.

you just need to combine all of your songs into one file. if i'm trying to get people to dance, my live set is an hour long, with about 15 different songs in it.
tip: open up the midi assign in ableton. assign a key on your controller to play the scene, and another two to move up 1 scene and down 1 scene. now you can travel through your set without touching the laptop. very handy!

Thanks that helps alot. I will put all my songs into one Live Set and then there won't be any load time.
Another question i have is when i play live, all of my loops are triggered by a separate key on my keyboard. If i was to put all my songs in a live set, it would make it difficult have all my loops (which would be a lot with all my songs) have a separate key assigned to it, and still have room to be able to play some of the keys normally. I am wondering how much work it would be and if it would be really confusing if i set each song in the same set to a different midi channel. Like the first song would be controlled by some keys on my board and channel 1. Then i would switch setup's on my keyboard when i switch songs and the next song would be controlled by the same keys as before, only a different channel. Would that be really messed up or can it be done without much confusion? I kind of thought about that as i was asking the question and now that i think about it i am realizing it will work and wont be very hard at all. Wow. what a pointless post.
I guess i am curious about a few more things since im just getting started performing my stuff and i want it to be sweet. When i am switching between songs, do most artists have the songs stop or do they create a sort of transition from one to the next so the whole set never really stops? Thats what ive been trying to do but its hard to make stuff that is in different keys and different tempos to bring together diferent songs. I dont know. just let me know if you got any ideas. other wise ill just keep playing with it and prolly figure it out. thanks.

Oh shit, one more thing. When i add all my songs into a single live set, it seems to make my computer slower and slower as i add more instruments, effects, ect. is there any way to get around this, or do i just need a sweet ass computer. thanks.
