how would a laptop battle incorporate audiences? but then... I hear about battle of the bands being the same way and if we put too much emphasize on audience then the whole show's gonna be "who's going to bring the most friends" thing so.. but then some sort of audience input would be cool. I guess not necessary though, like the game shows on TV or 'Kohaku Utagassen' on Japanese TV.

for this one, eiko had the good idea to do a *viewers' choice award* type thing. we're gonna be handing out a brochure to 1 out of every 4 people, & inside will be instructions on how to vote for your favorite laptop musician...

Yeah, I liked the viewers choice idea... but maybe have a little voting table/booth instead of having people use their programs/fliers. Hell, I never even got one of those programs. Nobody around me had one, either. Heh.
I liked the idea of having the crowd cheer for their favorite... and it was obvious that loud screams did not a winner make, so it wasn't too battle of the bands.

applause meter and let it count for an equal share to the judges. Or use the voter card like a semi lottery and let everyone who picked a winner win something to be sent in the mail or handed out at the end of the night.
